The 2019 Rugby World Cup draw took place in Kyoto, Japan this morning.
Ireland, who are one of the top seeds for the tournament, received a favourable draw. Being one of the top four seeds ensured Ireland avoided New Zealand, England and Australia.
Joe Schmidt's side will face Scotland and hosts Japan in the pool stage. They will also play Europe 1, the highest ranked team, apart from Georgia in the Rugby Europe Championship. They will also face the winner of a playoff between the third placed team from Oceania and second highest ranked team, except for Georgia, from Rugby Europe Championship.
