Sebastian Vettel drove his last ever race in Formula 1 today in the Abu Dhabi grand prix in an emotional day for the Aston Martin driver.

Sebastian Vettel leaves the sport with an incredible legacy.  Four world championships titles, 299 races, 122 podiums, 57 pole positions in 16 Formula one seasons, he will go down as one of the all time greats.

While the German has had a difficult couple of seasons, Sebastian Vettel will always go down as an a fan favourite, particularly with his activism outside of the track. The respect shown by his rivals and fans proves how highly Sebastian Vettel is regarded.

Speaking after his final race where he finished in 10th, the former champions' was hugely grateful for his career and talked of the privilege he has, while hoping his legacy can be continued off the track.

I think it's a huge position being in the position we are in, and with that comes some responsibility. I hope to pass on a little bit to the other drivers to carry on some of the good work.

It's great to see that we have the power to inspire with what we do and what we say. I think there's far bigger and far more important things than racing in circles. Obviously it's what we love but if through that we can transfer some of the really important values, that's big.

I really understood the privilege that I have, having the opportunity to reach so many people  having a voice and trying to use that more."

Abu Dhabi Grand Prix-Sebastian Vettel's Last Race

In the final race of the season, world champion Max Verstappen finished the season in style with his 15th victory of the season, with Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez completing podium.

Leclerc's second place finished meant Red Bull were denied a top two finish in both the race and the season. Sebastian Vettel claimed a point in his final race, just behind Daniel Ricciardo who is also set to leave the sport.

Lewis Hamilton's disappointing season continued as he failed to finish the race due to technical issues with his car.
