Formula One driver Jenson Button and his wife Jessica were reportedly gassed to keep them asleep while burglars robbed their holiday villa.
The couple had £300,000 worth of valuables stolen after burglars broke into their property while they were sleeping. It is thought that the burglars managed to compromise the air conditioning system and pump anaesthetic gas into the property.
The 2009 Formula One World Champion was with friends in a rented villa in Saint-Tropez which is 80 miles up the coast from Monaco, where his team, McLaren, is based.
Among the valuables stolen was his wife's engagement ring, which she was wearing at the time of the burglary. Although everyone in the house came away from the ordeal unharmed, a spokesperson for Button said that everyone was left 'unsurprisingly shaken by the events'.
The English driver is currently 17th in the World Driver's Championship after registering six points from the first ten races, with four retirements and one non-start.
