An Irish F1 podcast has been nominated alongside the likes of Sky Sports and BBC at the Global Sports Podcast Awards.
The Irish F1 Show was founded just two years ago and takes a lighthearted look at the world of Formula 1.
Co-hosted by Kevin Regan, Richard Kearney, Mike Dermody, and Barry Rabbitt, the show has become increasingly popular since its debut, and its nomination for "Best Motorsports Podcast" is indicative of how quickly it has grown into a force in the F1 podcasting world.

Irish F1 Show nominated for Best Motorsports Podcast
In conversation with Balls.ie this week, Kevin Regan of The Irish F1 Show explained the origins of the Formula 1 podcast:
The Irish F1 Show came about after a chat with well renowned Irish racing driver Richard Kearney at the end of 2021.
We kicked things off in 2022 and another of Irelands top racing drivers Meath man Barry Rabbitt came on board as we became a three piece and soon after it became a quartet with another well known racing driver Mike Dermody came on board.
The whole concept is a few lads having the craic after each race and some people have told us it’s a comedy podcast with an F1 twist!
Somehow since then we’ve managed to get well known F1, Horse Racing & Rugby broadcaster Lee McKenzie on, Conor Moore of Conor Sketches and RTE’s Peter Collins.
I’m basically doing this in a garden shed which is converted into a make shift studio with the lads on a zoom call and yet with such limited resources we’ve been shortlisted alongside Sky Sports, BBC, Red Bull and several others.
The other nominees for the "Best Motorsports Podcast" award include the Sky Sports F1 Podcast, BBC's Chequered Flag podcast, and Red Bull Racing's in-house Talking Bull show.
It is an immense honour for the Irish show - and the public have a say in who will come out on top.
Regan tells us that to be nominated is a "dream," but that he hopes Irish F1 fans will support them with their votes ahead of the awards on February 1st:
This is beyond our wildest dreams. To be a finalist is incredible, but of course we would love to win it!
To do so we need the help of the public. Voting is open until January 28th with the winner announced on February 1st. Voting can be done via the pinned posts on our social media pages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @irishf1show and in sportpodcastgroup.com under the vote now section in the Best Motorsport Podcast Category.

No doubt the lads will have plenty to discuss in the coming weeks, as the ten Formula 1 teams launch their cars and prepare for the 2024 season. Pre-season testing gets underway in Bahrain on February 21st, with the first race of the season taking place on Saturday, March 2nd at the same track. Max Verstappen will seek to win his fourth consecutive title in 2024.
