Kimi Raikkonen was lucky to avoid serious injury today after crashing on the opening lap at Silverstone this afternoon. The Finn slid off before rebounding across the track into the barriers on the opposite side.
He limped away from the incident, and is believed to have suffered an ankle injury.

Brazil’s Felipe Massa was also forced out of the race in the incident, after his evasive action to avoid a head-on collision with Raikkonen led him off the track.

Lewis Hamilton won the race, of course, which has propelled him right back into contention for the World Championship title. He capitalised on rival Nico Rosberg’s retirement after 29 laps to move to just four points of the German at the top of the drivers’ standings.
Hamilton's 5th #F1 Grand Prix victory in 2014 already equals his World Championship year (2008).
