There was more UFC controversy tonight as a Liverpool-based bout between local fighter, Darren Till, and the American Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson resulted in an unusual result in favour of Till.
Sorry but controlling the Octagon does not give you the round. @WonderboyMMA landed the cleaner harder shots in the first 3 rounds. Sad that people that are supposed to know about the sport are lacking greatly in their knowledge of what is scored in a round #AskBJM

I don’t get this scoring shitttteee!! #UFCLiverpool

I thought Wonderboy won and it makes me mad that people who DON’T make weight this year are 7-1 in their fights. Something needs to change.

Fight goes the distance. Till dropped WB in the 5th but WB survived well. This could go either way. Personally, I lean towards WB 3-2.

I scored it 48-47 Wonderboy but 48-47 Till is fine. A few close rounds. But 49-46 is just bad.

Nope. I like Till, but Wonderboy won. #UFCLiverpool

No lie, legit shocked at that. What exactly did Till do other than walk forward in any of the first 4 rounds? #UFCLiverpool

With most of those watching through a somewhat objective lens suggesting that the American Thompson won the fight, Till's home-advantage was decisive in the opinions of many.
Darren Till wins by unanimous decision. And this is why fighters don't want to travel for these 'hometown' fights. Crowd roared every time Till threw a strike even if he wasn't landing (and he didn't land much)#UFCLiverpool

I’d argue the crowd played a factor in the scorecards, too. https://t.co/UE3d2U3VsQ

Speaking immediately after the fight, Till did not perhaps feel the same way as many who suggested he had lost.
Looking onward and upward, the Liverpool fighter was adamant that the future looked bright for him.
