We're massive fans of leading MMA analyst Robin Black in this parish, and were delighted to welcome him onto our Balls.ie MMA Show some weeks ago.
Back then, of course, Black joined us to discuss Conor McGregor's eagerly(?) anticipated rematch with Nate Diaz, which did turn out to be a downright classic, after releasing his own typically unique video breakdown to rave reviews on this side of the world.
This time Black is back with another analytical masterclass, once more breaking out his notorious Sapp-Alvarez Scale (named in part after Eddie Alvarez himself), and dissecting what in any case is a fascinating stylistic clash between two utter warriors, and borderline lunatics.
Black maintains that Alvarez was forced to curb his swashbuckling approach to the fight game in order to reach the top echelon of martial arts, deploying more boxing than we've grown accustomed to with the same fighter as he dismantled Rafael Dos Anjos to gain the lightweight belt (or at least until he had Dos Anjos rocked). As for McGregor, meanwhile - Black believes he'll require every ounce of resillience that he developed over two fights with Nate Diaz if he is to plough through the lightweight champ.
