With Conor McGregor in his corner, there was a lot of interest in the first preliminary fight of a UFC Belfast card that has been rocked by injury withdrawls.
Unfortunately for the Irish fans in attendance, Chalie Ward's UFC debut did not go to plan as the referee called a halt to the fight inside one minute.
Both Ward and his opponent Razak Alhassan came out swinging in what was an absolute brawl, but it was the SBG fighter who took the more concerning shots leading to the stoppage.
Well, that didn't take long. HUGE shots from Razak Alhassan and it's over just like that!! #UFCBelfast https://t.co/fVypdC57m5

Yikes.
It was never going to go the distance, that's for sure.
While this is certainly a blow for Ward, it has come against a more experienced fighter that now holds a perfect 8-0 record, so hopefully he will get another shot in the UFC and a chance to show what those at SBG know he is capable of.
