Helwani asks, Helwani gets.
While we wouldn't necessarily go with that headline ourselves, Ariel knows best and when he gave us a cheeky shoutout on his outstanding show 'The MMA Hour', we simply couldn't resist.
While discussing McGregor's RTÉ sportsperson of the year interview, a claim by Eric Jackman that Conor McGregor may have been bending the truth when he claimed he would be returning sooner than originally thought, was an interesting one. Was he just posturing with Dana White, or was he serious? And have they really not been in disucssion?
Helwani has featured on our MMA podcast before so we're glad he thought of us when he claimed such as suggestion deserved to be on Balls.ie:
We love you too, Ariel. Slightly less than we like some juicy MMA beef, but still. When we spoke to him ahead of UFC 202 he was fascinated by our name, something that has proven difficult to explain to some North American colleagues in the past, and that was a fun discussion to have.
As for the what was said on the show, we fully agree with the point on the actual interview, where no questions were asked, only statements made... "You won in New York"... Maybe send us next time, RTÉ? It's been a while since our last chat with Conor. But while it did seem odd that there has been no contact between Conor and the UFC, perhaps the '10 month' thing came from an early suggestion that has since been revised.
You can watch the latest episode of The MMA Hour in full below, particularly interesting this week was Dan Hardy's response to an odd call out from Mickey Gall.
