On the most recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, the UFC commentator went off on an entertaining tangent about 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor while discussing the draw of MMA and the UFC in particular.
Rogan claimed that McGregor is the greatest shit-talker of all time, and cited the manner in which he emphatically backs up what he says as a reason for it.
It's no secret that McGregor's has propelled the UFC to another level of mainstream interested, but the man himself does not like the term "shit-talk", as he has explained before, he believes everything he says to be true.
But as far as Rogan is concerned, shit-talk is not bullshitting or lying, but psyching out one's opponent. And he argues that there is nobody better than Conor.
He's the best shit-talker of all time.
And I know I've said that before about other people, before that I said Chael Sonnen, and I think he was, for a while, but I think Conor tops him.
Also, Conor has additional significance to his shit-talking 'cause he knocks people dead. It's a totally different thing. Chael Sonnen, not that he's not a fuckin' animal, because Chael Sonnen's an animal, he submitted Shogun Rua.. He's a stud. What Conor does differently is that he ices people with one punch, and that's a big factor.
Rogan then made an interesting point as to how McGregor's calm demeanor add power to his shots, as he does not waste any energy while throwing his punches by tightening his muscles to brace for impact.
The passion with which he speaks about MMA is infectious, and there's a reason why his podcast is one of the most successful in the world.
