UFC president Dana White has been forced to rebuff the idea of the UFC being sold in recent days amid rumours that a number of extremely wealthy conglomerates - including the Dalian Wanda Group that own 20% of Atletico Madrid - were looking to buy the company, but the Dan Patrick show wanted to focus on something else.
Conor McGregor's every move on social media is being tracked for hints as to what will happen regarding his next fight, and with all the nonsense involving Floyd Mayweather, it was unclear as to whether or not it would even be in an octagon, but Dana White has given his approval to a proposal that was put to him this afternoon.
UFC 202 takes place in August, and it could be headlined by Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz. White was asked directly whether 202 was the magic number, and he gave a positive response.
Sounds good to me.
No deal is done for 202, we're getting together next week and we're gonna figure out what's next.
The deal is not done (obviously) but it's clear that 202 works for Dana, and Conor is not likely going to want to spend any more time out of action if possible.
Reports have been surfacing over the last week or so that 202 was where the UFC wanted the rematch to take place, so it looks as though it's just a matter of time.
Meanwhile UFC 200 will go on without the main attraction, and with UFC 201 looking likely to host Robbie Lawler Vs Tyron Woodley, it suggests that impressive run of events that the organisation has planned is set to continue.
