Conor McGregor was in attendance tonight to watch a number of his friends and former Crumlin Boxing Club teammates compete on a great night of boxing at the National Stadium.
McGregor witnessed Jamie Conlan put in an impressive performance as he dispatched of Adrian Dimas Garzon in the fourth round, and shortly afterwards he had a quick chat with Box Nation TV where he explained that discussions with the UFC over an event in Croke Park are ongoing:
It's in talks. We're talking Croke Park now shortly, it looks like Croke Park this year. Croke Park or Aviva but it will be big.
Croke Park within a year? That is exciting. Of course, we can't get our hopes up just yet, but hopefully he's correct.
Conor McGregor was then given a shout-out over the stadium PA, to which he received a warm reception. Interestingly, The Notorious one suggested he would love to take part in a boxing match, something which we would certainly love to see. Watch the interview in full below:
While we're not too hopeful of the UFC being able to host an event in Croker, it's clear that they are trying their best, and McGregor is confident that we will see a UFC event in a stadium in Dublin within a year.
