While much of the talk may have been about Jon Jones, leading into UFC 232, it was Amanda Nunes who actually stole show with an incredible victory over Cyborg in the co-main event, becoming the first ever two-weight women's division champion in UFC history.
Punches flew between the pair right from the very start but the fight would be over in 51 seconds as Cyborg's legs gave in multiple times before the referee called a halt. Nunes is now both the Featherweight and Bantamweight champion.
Cyborg had been the heavy favourite going into the fight but took her defeat graciously.
Today was not our day, but I want you to know that I am very grateful for your affection! Life is like that one day we lose and one day we win!
Belt for me has always been symbolic, the most important is to be a champion in the lives of people making a difference in this world! pic.twitter.com/jsue0el4dd— UFC 232 tonight (@criscyborg) December 30, 2018
Nunes has now beaten Cyborg, Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate, Valentina Shevchenko and Germaine de Randamie. 'Possibly the greatest female mixed martial arts fighter ever,' says Joe Rogan.
