The first episode of The Ultimate Fighter: Team McGregor vs Team Faber airs this week (you can watch it on Setanta on Thursday nights).
McGregor says he he will be taking a 'hands-off' approach to the coaching and that he is simply there to 'bring eyes to the screen'.
He has had plenty of advice for his fighters though telling them forget about the 'fabricated team bullshit'.
I brought them in the other day and I told them forget Team Europe, forget Team USA - it's fake and it's fabricated, it's all fabricated bullshit in this business.
I told them to remember their team back home. Remember their families, remember why they are here. They are here for their family back home and their financial security. All the rest means absolutely nothing.
The Irishman said that fighters should already have their training done going into the six-week run and that it is now simply about maintaining their bodies.
That's what I'm going to do. I'm simply going to provide the platform for them. I'm going to bring eyes to the screen for them. I'm going to provide coaches that I have come up with, but really it's a six-week run of fights on and off.
The training is done, I'm not going to go in and teach them anything. I told them their training should already be done. You should already have your hard rounds done, now it's about keeping the body fresh.
Every fight you get knocks and bruises, so it's about maintaining those injuries and making it through those fights, that's the most important thing.
Forget teams, forget all of this other stuff, it means nothing. Keep your body fresh and your mind sharp, that's what I told them.
