Urijah 'The California Kid' Faber is a figure that has grown increasingly popular with Irish MMA fans in particular ever since he went head to head with Conor McGregor as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter, mainly due to his laid back attitude and clear enjoyment of the back and forth jibes that come with the territory.
Faber is facing another clash with Dominick Cruz at UFC 199, as his old rival will put his bantamweight title on the line in the co-main event on June 4, but the pre-fight media exchanges are going to provide some highly enjoyable moments as we count down the days to that huge card.
Urijah was asked for his opinion on the likes of Justin Bieber critiquing UFC fighters, and before revealing that he fully supports it, he recalled a time when he spotted a "pre-pubescent" Bieber cage-side as Faber fought Cruz back in the WEC days, and his reaction at the time was wonderfully Californian.
Whassup Biebs!
He then continued to explain that he thought Bieber would make a good MMA fighter if he had taken up the sport due to his confidence, but what really stood out to us was arguably the most generic comment ever made by a sportsman when asked about pop-culture:
I appreciate everything they do as well, I love to be entertained by the entertainment community.
Don't well all Urijah... Don't we all...
We're loving Faber's form as of late and we can't wait to see more as we edge closer to UFC 199.
