The unified featherweight belt is all that matters on December 12th. Conor McGregor goes up against Jose Aldo and the sporting world will be watching and, as such, UFC and EA Sports have spotted an opportunity.
EA Sports' UFC 2 is coming out in the new year and the first thing that has to be decided in all this is who gets to go on the cover. When the first instalment was announced Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson were the faces of the promotion. It'll come as no surprise that they're not getting to the chance to do so again.
Ronda Rousey was an obvious cover star. A couple of months ago it was announced that Rousey, alongside an unnamed fighter, would front the game. Rousey promptly lost her title to Holly Holm and suggestions of an EA Sports curse started to do the rounds.
The cover star curse is most often associated with Madden NFL but EA and UFC want this nipped in the bud so they've decided to chuck the honour of appearing alongside Rousey on the cover into UFC 194. Dana White was speaking on SportsCentre on Thursday to make the announcement.
For the first time in EA Sports history, who will go on the cover will be decided by the fight. It's never happened in sports history where a sporting event determined who will go on the cover.
He'd never admit it, but you just know that White is praying that McGregor comes out on top. His two cash cows going down one month after the other could be too much to handle.
