MMA had been banned in New York since 1997 but earlier this year the ban was lifted following a vote in the state assembly.

In the main event, Conor McGregor gets the opportunity to become the first UFC fighter to hold titles in two weight divisions when he faces lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez.
