The title of UFC 202's preview documentary should probably come under scrutiny considering there is no real 'Bad Blood' between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz, but the show itself did exactly what it was supposed to - re-whetting the appetite for a contest which, in promotional terms, had stagnated in recent times.
The 43-minute promo was uploaded in full to Youtube by the UFC overnight, and sees McGregor looking within himself for answers following his initial defeat to the Stockton native, as he tells the camera:
I feel I was over-eager, overactive, over-engaged in everything else. I hit him, and I hurt him, and I hurt him very badly many times.
And I...I played with it too much. You've gotta be very careful; if you shy away from what it is, you become timid. If you play up to it too much and take too much energy from it, you're exerting too much energy, you become fatigued.
Even in the corner between rounds, my coach John is speaking to me and I'm not even listening to him - I'm looking at the screen, I'm engaging in the energy. This time I will find that middle ground, and I will go in and do my work.
'Engaging in the energy'. Right. It definitely makes more sense when you can see the matching gesticulations.
Jokes aside, though, this is a thoroughly enjoyable watch, and if you weren't necessarily enthralled by the idea of this rematch, you'll certainly feel like tuning in having watched it.
