There were two shocks at UFC 196. Obviously, Conor McGregor suffering the first loss of his UFC career to Nate Diaz. Also, Holly Holm's failed defence of her bantamweight title against Miesha Tate.
Both Diaz and Tate won their respective fights by rear naked choke. That is where the similarities end though.
Diaz took home a half million dollars for his win, on top of that comes a Fight of the Night bonus and an individual performance bonus, both worth $50,000.
Tate's base salary for the event was $46,000. She also received the same amount in a win bonus plus an individual performance bonus of $50,000. So, for winning the UFC bantamweight title, Tate received just $142,000 in total.
Conor McGregor became the first UFC fighter to earn a base salary of $1 million for a fight. Though, he is likely to earn $10 million-plus when his cut of the pay-per-view and gate is taken into account.
