We already know Joseph Duffy and Dustin Poirier will headline the UFC's Dublin event on October 24th and now it seems we have an equally exciting co-main event.
It had been thought that Gunnar Nelson would fill that slot but instead it looks like it's going to be a heavyweight contest with title implications. MMA Junkie are reporting that Stipe Miocic and Ben Rothwell will go head to head in Dublin in a bout that could see Miocic get a shot at champion Fabricio Werdum should he come through it.
Number three ranked Miocic has been slated for a title shot for quite a while but it looks like he'll have to jump through one more hoop before that happens. However, with Rothwell's recent form that's anything but a certainty.
The Wisconsin fighter is on a run of three stoppage wins and with a boost up to sixth in the rankings he'll be holding title aspirations of his own if he can overcome Miocic.
The bout is yet to be confirmed but it would certainly be an intriguing one for Irish fans to get the chance to see.
