According to Conor McGregor's bio on UFC.com, which we are going to go ahead and assume is written by someone who has access to this sort of info, the PPV numbers from UFC 189 are in and they did about what was predicted.
It seems as though the PPV numbers hit 1 million, which puts UFC 189 right up there with the biggest PPV events in UFC history.
The fight attracted a record 16,019 fans to the MGM Grand Garden Arena, plus a $7.2-million live gate and 1 million pay per view buys, proving McGregor’s sizable drawing power. Some 3,000 Irish fans converged on Las Vegas and left deliriously happy.
McGregor had predicted that UFC 189 would smash all PPV records, and perhaps he would have been right if Jose Aldo had not withdrawn through injury, but while the event did do what only seven previous events managed to do in pass one million buys, it is believed to have fallen short of UFC 100: Mir vs Lesnar, which brought in a staggering 1.6 million buys.
You have to expect the eagerly anticipated title unification fight with Jose Aldo will not only pass the Mendes numbers, but they will probably challenge for the most PPV buys in UFC history.
