We were all geared up for a superfight between Conor McGregor and Rafael Dos Anjos which would have seen the notorious Irishman given a chance to create history and hold two UFC belts in different weight-classes simultaneously, until the news that nobody wanted to hear filtered through.
"AGAIN?!" was the cry from MMA fans all over the World as another of Conor McGregor's opponents was forced to withdraw from a fight due to an injury sustained very late in training camp, but it soon emerged that the Dos Anjos had broken his foot, and would be unable to compete, so instead we were given a very exciting consolation in the form of Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz at UFC 189.
We knew that it was a broken foot, and we had seen the pictures on social media which Conor suggested was a bruise, but when discussing the upcoming fight on the Joe Rogan podcast, Ian McCall explained that he had the same masseuse as Dos Anjos, and heard just how unfortunate the circumstances surrounding the injury were.
The final minute, of the final round of sparring? Why MMA Gods? Why did you do this?
Of course, there will be questions as to why Dos Anjos was training so heavy, so close to the fight, but really this was a very unfortunate incident, and hopefully we will still get to see the fight we all wanted to at UFC 200.
You can watch the Joe Rogan Experience in full below, and it's well worth a watch as usual.
