The new, post-Fox, Ariel Helwani broke the news before anyone else that Frankie Edgar will fight Jose Aldo at UFC 200 for the interim featherweight title, which is essentially a glorified number one contender bout, and then the confirmation that McGregor and Diaz will meet again on the same card. Immediately everyone got excited about an incredible night ahead.
And so did I. After realising that UFC 200 is scheduled for the night before the Euro 2016 final (yep) it took me a while to realise that although a ridiculously entertaining night of fights (can't sleep on Joe Lauzon vs Diego Sanchez) lies in wait, so does a media storm the likes of which have never been seen.
-Redemption driven Conor McGregor.
-Unsurprised (motherfuckers) and extremely confident Nate Diaz.
-Fucking furious that he's not getting a shot at McGregor Frankie Edgar.
-Also fucking furious Jose Aldo.
All of these men will share the stage for the press conferences. And it's UFC 200, an event that everybody already knew the UFC were going to hype to the point where my dear sweet mother would be asking me if Conor McGregor is wise to insist on the rematch being at 170.
UFC press conferences when Conor McGregor is involved are must-see events. Whether you watch the stream live like many of our readers do, or you check for the highlights after, they never fail to deliver. But I get the feeling that we haven't seen the half of it yet.
Exciting times.
