Conor McGregor has ramped up the chances of a UFC fight with Joseph 'The last man to beat Conor McGregor' Duffy, with The Notorious telling reporters yesterday that he 'will KO him stiff' if the opportunity presents itself.
Duffy beat McGregor back in 2010, in Cage Warriors, before moving up to lightweight. Now that McGregor is indicating his desire to move up in weight as well, the possibility of a rematch between the two is definitely on the cards.
Yesterday, McGregor said:
When I look at his career, he lost the Cage Warriors lightweight title, the title that I won; he was submitted in the fourth round. And he filled his shit with excuses; he had a sore hand or he had this. He quit the sport, he moved country, he changed teams. He was Welsh Joe, then he was London Joe, now he’s Canadian Joe. Then he sees my success and all of a sudden he’s Irish Joe.
Duffy was born in Donegal but has lived in Wales, London and Canada since.
McGregor claims that Duffy's upcoming fight against Dustin Poirier deserves headline status only because they're known for having fought him in the past, saying 'I’m happy to be bringing in extra revenue for the company.'
The interim featherweight champion added:
I’d love to see him climb up and I would KO him stiff, just for the way this has all panned out. But I see him as a journeyman, I don’t see him making that climb.
Oh it's on!
