On Wednesday of this week, Senator Catherine Noone went the Ryan Tubridy Show and told the presenter that the UFC should not be given a licence to hold an event in Ireland as it was a "vile so-called sport".
After she received numerous tweets from MMA fans, asking that she educate herself before making such statement, she rowed back.
Hands up - jumped the gun re UFC/MMA - lots of offers of training/education which I'll take up!

Not all of the tweets sent her way were so diplomatic though.
Some tweets, including one which said "Hope you get raped", were reported to gardaí by Fine Gael.
Noone told The Herald:
I accept that I didn't fully brief myself on the issue, and in hindsight I regret agreeing to do the interview, but the comments I've received have been horrific.
I know politicians are seen as fair game, but to have this level of personal abuse directed at someone over comments made is deeply upsetting.
It's unacceptable that anyone should be subjected to these type of comments.
