The Sage Northcutt hype train was derailed on Saturday night. The first loss of his MMA career came in incredibly facile fashion; an arm triangle choke - while in half guard - to Bryan Barberena.
In the second round of the encounter at Fight Night New Jersey, Northcutt tapped out with a little under two minutes remaining.
The 19-year-old has been the recipient of numerous jealous remarks from other UFC fighters, mainly due to receiving such a high salary so early in his career. In his last fight, a stoppage of Cody Pfister back in December, Northcutt received $80,000 ($40,000 salary and $40,000 win bonus).
Once he had tapped out to Barberena last night, many of Northcutt's fellow UFC employees took the opportunity to share their delight at the loss.
