It was inevitable that Ronda Rousey would swap the Octagon for the silver screen before long, and now it appears that the time has come for her to land a starring role after her brief-yet-impressive part in 'Entourage'.
Accoring to Variety, Ronda will be playing a starring role in a re-boot of the '80s cult hit 'Road House', and will play the role that Patrick Swayze played in the original.
The idea is dividing opinion online, as some feel there shouldn't be a remake following the death of Swayze in 2009, but as seen with Ghostbusters, there appears to be a trend of female-driven reboots emerging in Hollywood.
Furthermore, Ronda herself apparently wanted to be sure that she wouldn't be stepping on any toes, and before accepting the role she reportedly reached out the widow of Patrick Swayze to get her blessing:
Sources say Rousey recently reached out to Swayze’s widow, Lisa Niemi, to ask for her blessing, which Niemi gladly gave.
So let's see how this one turns out. MGM is the studio behind the project and they are currently meeting with screenwriters ahead of a 2016 production.
The original movie certainly involved a lot of ass-kicking, so who better than Rousey to get in there and kick some ass?
