Robbie Lawler and Rory MacDonald contested what has to go down as one of the greatest fights in MMA history at UFC 189, with Lawlor emerging from the bloodbath with his title intact thanks to a fifth round knockout after he had been trailing on the judges scorecards, and now he knows who his next challenger will be.
There had been speculation about a possible title shot for Damian Maia or even a trilogy fight against former champ Johnny Hendricks, but Ariel Helwani used his spot on Wednesday night's UFC Tonight to confirm that Carlos Condit is next in line and he will fight Lawler at UFC 193 which will take place in Australia although there are no location or date set yet.
This has us very excited as coming off such an entertaining bout with MacDonald, Lawler will now being taking on another fighter known for his exciting fights, and the fact that 28 of Carlos Condit's 30 wins have come via a finish, fight fans can expect another great contest.
Most recently Condit impressed with a second round victory against Thiago Alves in Brazil back in May, which was his first fight in over a year due to an ACL injury. While he would be the underdog going into the Lawler fight, his explosive striking makes this a must see fight for UFC fans.
