Donegal native Josepg Duffy suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Dustin Poirier in a hard-fought three round brawl in the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday night, with 'The Diamond' controlling the second and third rounds with takedowns and some vicious elbows from the top.
Although Duffy enjoyed some success with his striking in the first round, he took some serious damage from the elbows of Poirier who was good value for his unanimous decision victory.
We've yet to hear from Joseph in the aftermath of the fight, but an image has surfaced of the Irishman's eye which we can safely assume he won't be seeing out of for a while..
This is what he looked like between rounds:

Ouch!
Duffy did leave Poirier with a broken nose, so both fighters will be feeling the effects of the fight in the coming days and weeks:

Once again commiserations to Joseph, we've no doubt he'll be back in action soon and hopefully he can go on another impressive streak to get himself into title contention in the lightweight division.
