It was everything we expected and more. Quite possibly the two most notorious trash talkers (three if you include Nick) going head to head in a non-stop verbal sparring session ahead of the real deal next weekend. It was enough to make the detractors swear off all forms of sporting media until at least a week after McGregor gets the KO victory we're all expecting.
In reality, the vast majority of us know to take all the build-up with a pinch of salt. It's window dressing for the main event but we all fully buy into it because it's entertaining. Not everyone looks at it like that however. McGregor is no longer going up against the Aldo/Dos Anjos and the nation of Brazil. This time he's going up against the Diaz brothers and the Stockton 209.
And it would appear that they don't take kindly to some uppity Irishman having his say on their little slice of California paradise. Speaking at last night's press conference, McGregor explained how the persona that Diaz has created may not be all there is to him.
He’s like a little cholo gangster from the hood. But at the same time, he coaches kid’s jiu jitsu on a Sunday morning and goes on bike rides with the elderly. He makes gun signs with the right hand and balloon animals with the left hand.
However, that particular jibe has seemingly got one Stockton resident a bit hot under the collar with the following twitter exchange ensuring that, not only has the UFC been forced to act but the FBI have reportedly become involved.
According to Fansided, the UFC were notified and the user's twitter account was taken down before an investigation was launched by the FBI into the credibility of the supposed threat. Make of that what you will but to round this unsavoury incident off nicely it's worth noting the following thread on /r/mma discussing whether Ireland or Stockton is more dangerous.
We have to go down and get some slimline milk for the tea in a couple of minutes. Pray4me brb indeed.
