Had Conor McGregor defeated Nate Diaz earlier this month - instead of being choked out in the second round - a rumour was circulating that he was going to call out Georges St-Pierre with a fight at UFC 200 in mind.
Adding credence to this rumour was the former UFC welterweight champion being seated near the octagon at UFC 196.
Firas Zahabi, coach to St-Pierre, later stated that it would have been crazy if McGregor, or Diaz for that matter, had challenged his fighter. He also alluded to a possibility of a super fight with McGregor in the future.
That McGregor, GSP and possibly the UFC had already organised plans for what would happen after the March 5th fight - with the Irishman the presumed winner - is something which annoys Nate Diaz.
Speaking on Chael Sonnen's 'You're Welcome!' podcast, Diaz said he put a 'big old hole' in everyone's plans.
Yeah I heard (they were planning on having Conor call out GSP) but I put a big old hole in that shit. What did they think, that I'm some game they can play? I can't be fucked with, I been in the game too long. They wanted to have this big old GSP vs. McGregor bullshit, with Georges sat in the front row at UFC 196, I don't even wanna hear about that shit. Get the fuck outta here with that. What the fuck?
Diaz also found amusing the thought of GSP actually fighting McGregor. It would have been what he called a 'freak show fight'.
I pissed off Conor McGregor, I pissed off GSP, but most of all I pissed off the UFC. Well guess what? LOL motherfuckers. Georges is full of shit, he's a bully, he was going to fight this little Irish featherweight guy? He would have held him down, that's a freak show fight man.
