In his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, Nate Diaz mentioned poor preparations for his rematch with Conor McGregor.
The 31-year-old said that he had come into the fight 'worse off' than for their original bout back in March - 'I didn't get to train, I had injuries.'
For that fight in March, Diaz only had ten days' notice. It had been expected he would arrive into the rematch in far better condition. That turns out to have not been the case.
Later, during a media scrum, Diaz elaborated further about his injuries. For a month prior to UFC 202, he was unable to train in jiu-jitsu. Also, for two and a half weeks, he was unable to do any sparring due to a rib injury.
I haven't been able to train jiu-jitsu for the last month. Then about two weeks after that, I was just sparring boxing and I hurt my rib. I got hit in the body by my boxing partner Alan Sanchez, a really good boxer. That put me out of sparring about two and a half weeks ago.
I got all that on tape. Just to set it off, not to make excuses, I got all that videoed up.
He should have finished me off.
