It's the absolute nightmare scenario for any sportsman.
The big stage, all eyes on you, the time has come... And nature calls. Not just a call, but rather a demand. Something is about to happen, evacuation is imminent, and you can't go to the bathroom.
UFC fighter Michael Chiesa lived that nightmare on Saturday night, but rather than humiliate himself in front of thousands in the arena and millions watching at home, he actually managed to supress his extreme need to poo for long enough to record what is probably his most impressive win in the octagon.
His description of telling Joe Rogan so that he was prepared for the commentary is particularly insane, but Chiesa revealed the severity of the situation to Ariel Helwani after the fight:
Take your mind off of it for long enough and it's no longer a problem.
What a nightmare, and it's not the first time we've heard of a fighter needing the bathroom at the worst possible time only to be forced to start their walkout. The UFC does not care whether or not you soil their octagon, you just had better be one time.
A lucky escape for Michael Chiesa, as twitter wouldn't have let him live that one down.
