Following the announcement of Conor McGregor vs Rafael dos Anjos for the UFC lightweight title, John Kavanagh wrote that "You've seen Conor on salads… now watch what he's like on steak".

With the switch of McGregor's UFC 196 fight to welterweight rather than lightweight - a move up of 15 lbs - it is steak in the plural rather than singular which the Dubliner has been consuming.

Listen to our preview of the fight on our daily sports podcast, The Racket:

In the episodes of Embedded for UFC 196, McGregor was clearly enjoying his more liberal diet compared to that which he had to endure for the weight cut to featherweight. Artem Lobov joked that they were taking inspiration from the diet of UFC heavyweight Roy Nelson.

At the weigh-in on Friday night, McGregor hit the scales at 168 lbs. Going on recent reports, he probably cut around 9 lbs or so from what has been his normal day-to-day weight of late.

It meant gone was the emaciated individual of previous weigh-ins for featherweight events and present was a far healthier looking Conor McGregor.
