Saturday night felt like an epoch, the arrival of a new age as Official Ireland confronted the bold new age of men hitting other men while bragging about money and red panties. Conor McGregor was not in Montrose to collect his Sportsperson of the Year award from RTE - he's presumably holding back his next appearance in Dublin 4 for the Marian Finucane Show - but he did sit down for a pre-recorded interview with Clare McNamara.
It was a pretty remarkable year for McGregor, and it was a reasonably long interview with RTE. He was quick to correct McNamara's opening error, and went on to talk about sleeping beneath "duck feathers", which we didn't realise was something desirable, but you learn something new every day.

Ariel Helwani snuck a peek at the video in between fights at UFC Sacramento, and he found the last minute of it "fascinating".
Last 60 seconds of this interview from McGregor are fascinating. First time I hear him reference new UFC owners by name. https://t.co/ZAvtrpTOwB

It's true McGregor has not publicly called them by name before: he used the post-Alvarez interview to ask who the new owners are, as he wasn't exactly sure who owned the UFC following the sale of the company by the Fertittas.
Update: Helwani has gotten in touch:
to be clear, what I found fascinating was that he used this stage to double down on the stance they haven't reached out yet.

and this time, just so he's crystal clear, he specifically mentioned them by name. That's interesting, IMO. The rest we've heard
