John Kavanagh's interview from Paul Kimmage is one of the more entertaining in recent years. From Kavanagh's fascinating first meeting with McGregor where the teacher beat up the student, to stories about McGregor's antics.
Like the time he blagged his way into a J-Lo party. It all happened around the time when Cristanio Ronaldo appeared at McGregor's training, and Kimmage asked Kavanagh what happened.
According to Kavanagh, Ronaldo didn't say a whole lot at the training complex, but was much more talkative later than night. Later that night at J-Lo's party that they only find out about because Ronaldo says he has to leave to go to it.
PK: So how do you end up at the party?
JK: That's just cheeky Conor, a throwback to his youth. He just says: "Ah sure I'll come along." And Ronaldo goes: "Ehh…OK."
PK: (Laughs) Really?
JK: Yeah and we're all there thinking: 'How can Ronaldo invite us to this gig? Who's going to be there?' Even in the car as we're driving in: 'Wait! This a terrible mistake. We're going to walk in here and be thrown out by some security guard!'
Fortunately for the Irish pair, it seems that Lopez is a big fan of the Dubliner, and was only delighted to see McGregor that night:
We go in and J-Lo catches his eye and comes running over like a schoolgirl: "Oh! Conor McGregor! Thank you for coming. Let's dance!" She drags him to the dancefloor and they start dancing and I'm like: 'Oh, here we go, just another crazy story.'
According to Kavanagh, it was a strange night, that featured Ronaldo telling him (Kavanagh), that he's a big fan, he reads everything that Kavanagh writes and how the Portuguese megastar kept going back over to the MMA coach.
Just another day in the lives of Ronaldo and McGregor
