Some worrying news has surfaced in the world of mixed martial arts on Friday evening as former UFC champion and hall of famer Matt Hughes has been involved in an accident that involved a collision with a train.
Hughes retired in 2011 but had made clear his intentions to return to fighting earlier in the year, but has today been airlifted to a hospital with what is believed to be head trauma after his truck that he was driving was hit by a moving train.
Dana White confirmed the news to ESPN shortly after posting an image of Hughes on Instagram wishing he and his wife all the best.
Former UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes has been airlifted to a medical facility after the truck he was in collided with a moving train Friday, UFC president Dana White told ESPN.
White said he's been in contact with Hughes' family, and that they are currently en route to the medical facility where the 43-year-old was taken.
