Those who tuned in for the UFC 205 conference call were not disappointed.
Conor McGregor wasted no time in telling Eddie Alvarez what he had planned for the current UFC lightweight champ when the two meet on November 12th, but the Dubliner was also very keen to remind everyone why the UFC was finally hosting an event in New York City.
When asked if The Big Apple made any difference or if he felt any nerves in the new location, McGregor went off on a rant claiming that he and he alone was calling the shots, and that everyone else would do as they're told.
I run this whole shit. I run New York. I'm the reason we're here in the first place. If I wasn't here the whole ship goes down. There's no one else out there. There's no one but me.
Getting on the prelim with me is better exposure than another card.
Listen, everyone in this game does what they're fucking told. Everyone but me. Because I run the game, so I don't give a fuck about all that. If you're told you're on the prelims you're on the prelims, if you're told your on the fight night, you're on the fight night.
Nobody has no say in this but me. And rightfully fucking so.
Wow.
He is clearly fired up for this fight, as he should be. McGregor's tone and attitude throughout the conference call was a direct contrast to Alvarez who was flippant and dismissive throughout, laughing at McGregor's claims as though they were delusional. That in itself has been tried and has failed against McGregor before, but it will be interesting to see how it works for Alvarez.
One thing is for sure, we have an unmissable fight on our hands in just over a week's time.
