Stood in the Octagon being interviewed by Joe Rogan after his win at UFC 205, it was clear how much Khabib Nurmagomedov wanted to fight Conor McGregor.
The Russian called the Irishman 'chicken' and the 'number one easy fight in the lightweight division' after his win against Michael Johnson.
That was nearly four hours prior to McGregor beating Eddie Alvarez to win the lightweight title. Nurmagomedov, like the oddsmakers, had a strong idea about who was going to be the 155lb champion by the conclusion of events at Madison Square Garden.
It was not just in the interview where the undefeated 28-year-old vocalised his desire for a title fight. He also did it during the fight against Johnson.
With Johnson pressed against the cage, Nurmagomedov told the American:
You have to give up.
I need to fight for the title. You know this. I deserve it.
He also spoke to UFC president Dana White between rounds.
Hey, be careful. I'm gonna smash your boy.
