Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov took part in open workouts on Wednesday night ahead of their UFC lightweight title fight this weekend.
McGregor's Dagestani opponent took an opportunity with the microphone to put some questions to the Irish fans in attendance. To a chorus of olé, olé, olé and boos, Nurmagomedov asked about the Irish language.
"I have a question for Ireland: What about your language?" said the 30-year-old.
What about your language? What about the Irish language? Where is your language right now? What's wrong with your language?
Maybe it's changing. Hey, you guys changing? You guys with England right now? Give me an answer right now. It's very interesting.
He also brought up McGregor's paternal grandfather, Christopher, who worked as a petty officer for the British Merchant Navy.
"This guy [Conor McGregor] talks about they fight with the English empire but his grandfather, Christopher McGregor, he worked with the English navy and he killed your people.
"Now you guys support him, I'm going to change this Saturday night."
