It's the question that's been bandied about so much that at this stage the world simply wants some confirmation; When will Conor McGregor be back in the octagon?
Speaking in a Facebook live interview with Wimp 2 Warrior, McGregor's coach John Kavanagh has said that the lightweight plans to fight in the UFC in 2018, but refrained from saying anything concrete on the Dubliner's return.
There's so much happening in the division and things changing around and what have you. I can't say who. I can't say when. As people who follow him on social media will see, he's back, very motivated, training a lot. He's in the gym every day. The plan seems to be forming and getting more exact every day that [he'll be] back in the UFC this year. When and against who, I would be just guessing.
While McGregor has not been stripped of his lightweight title as of yet Lightweight rival Tony Ferguson recently revealed on the MMAHour that Dana White told him that his bout with Khabib Nurmagomedov will be for the undisputed title:
Speaking Straight up. I'm the fucking champ and we don't know if we're fighting for the real belt or not. What the fuck is that? Dana White is telling us one thing on one [side] of the curtain and on the other side he's saying, 'No, Conor McGregor is the champion. Go and do your homework.' And I love Dana, man, but I'm like, 'What the fuck, dude? Am I not the champ or am I the champ? Do you want to hype me up or do you not want to hype me up for this fight?'"
There is also news of Nate Diaz angling for a return to the fold, having not fought since McGregor defeated the American by unanimous decision in 2016. It is interesting to note the Stockton man's resurgence into the spotlight as of late but with the demands of both Diaz and McGregor to contend with, a third match may prove difficult to negotiate.
Sick of sitting around waiting for you fuckers to do shit there's no excitement in this fight… https://t.co/9epJ23NxaP

While McGregor is busy selling teeth whitening products and renting Funderland for a day, the Crumlin man does seem to be keeping in shape ahead of any potential bout.
