This much we know. Jose Aldo underwent a random drug test on Thursday morning. However, his urine sample never made it to the lab. A member of the Drug Free Sport lab went to Nova Uniao on Thursday morning to collect the sample from Aldo but his manager, Andre Pederneiras, was suspicious about the man.
Aldo handed over the sample, but Pederneiras contacted the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA) about the test, and CABMMA officials informed Brazilian police that something was amiss.
The problem arose when it was revealed Ben Mosier, the man collecting the sample, is licensed by the Nevada Athletic Commission, but didn't have a visa that would allow him to work in Brazil. Mosier was fined $130 and has 8 days to leave the country. The result was that the sample was discarded and Aldo will be tested again tomorrow, something which Aldo described as normal.
We reached a point in this sport that not only me, but every fighter has to go through this. This is my first time in Brazil. I think the Brazilian commission should be the one handling this, for the fact that I live here. But that’s not an issue. It’s nothing for me. Fight, pee, it’s the same thing to me.
Aldo has not actually done anything outside of the rules but this will be sure to draw anger from McGregor and his camp. He has already replied to the situation with this tweet but this is certainly not going to be the last we have heard from McGregor on the situation.
I was random tested on May 23rd. Blood AND Urine. @josealdojunior you little weasel. You and your weasel coach. #AndNew
