Jose Aldo's Barb At John Kavanagh Reflects Very Poorly On Former Champion

Having been awarded the UFC featherweight title by the UFC after it was "relinquished" by Conor McGregor, you could be forgiven that Jose Aldo would be happy in his career once again. Unquestionably one of the greatest champions MMA had seen, he dominated his opponents for a decade before Conor McGregor came along and put a stop to his incredible run.

Since that happened however, we've seen a side of Jose Aldo we had never seen before, and as he continues to complain and voice his displeasure with the UFC, it is continuing to reflect very poorly on him.

Speaking to Brazilian outlet Combate [via BloodyElbow.com], Aldo expressed his displeasure with the UFC for not giving other fighters the title shots they deserve, and made some very contradictory comments after being reinstated as featherweight champ.

It's cool for me, I was a dominant champion for a long time, but what about Jacare's situation? He's always winning and doesn't get his title shot. They tell him he'll fight for the title and he never does. And it seems he never will. It's a generalized mess.

I knew I would be the champion and he knows what happened to me in that fight will never happen again.

It was known I would be champion again so I don't have a problem with the way it happened. I've always said that having the belt around my waist is all that matters. No matter what, I'm the champion. I don't care about what his coach says. Who is his coach anyway? I don't know who he is. Or him. They're all pieces of sh*t.

That is complete bullshit.

Firstly, it was known that he would be champion again? Was this when he was telling everyone with a pair of ears that he was going to retire? That plan, one which he was adamant about because he didn't like the way MMA was going with fighters talking shite about each other, didn't really come to fruition.

And what is his problem with John Kavanagh? The SBG coach has never spoken in a disrespectful manner to any of McGregor's opponents, unless you call accurately predicting the outcome of a fight disrespectful.

To call him a piece of shit, along with McGregor, is exactly the sort of thing Aldo cited as a reason for him wanting to leave the sport. Now he's the champion again, and he's still moaning. He literally said he didn't know John Kavanagh, and then called him a piece of shit in the same breath... Has he not got someone to tell him that this isn't a good idea?

Baffling.

There are some out there that are fans of Conor McGregor, and still respect Aldo for what he achieved in the sport, and what he can still offer as one of the best featherweights in the world. But if he keeps up this carry on those numbers will continue to drop.
