News broke on Tuesday evening, Irish time, that Jose Aldo had sustained a fractured rib while training for his title fight with Conor McGregor at UFC 189 on July 11th.
Doubts about the viability of the fight immediately took root.
There is some cause for optimism though, and it's not Dana While telling everyone to relax.
Brazilian MMA writer Guilherme Cruz, who works for MMAFighting.com, reports that Nova Uniao coach Jair Lourenco told TV that Aldo wants the fight to go ahead.
Nova Uniao is the gym out of which Aldo fights.

Additionally, Cruz has found out that the featherweight champion is discussing options regarding how he could go ahead with the contest while carrying the rib injury.
I'm told Aldo is discussing options with his team and doctors, ways to go on and fight. Not easy, though.

There is also the possibility that the fight could be rescheduled for another event later in the summer.
