Ten weeks after it was initially scheduled to happen (at Fight Night Dublin), Joe Duffy takes on Dustin Poirier on the UFC 195 undercard tonight. The Donegal man and the American should go toe-to-toe sometime around 12:30am as the headline event on the Fight Pass card.
Ahead of the encounter, the promotion has released a feature on Duffy in an attempt to fuel the Irish UFC hype train which, apart from Conor McGregor, has stalled of late.
The Donegal-born lightweight always knew fighting was going to be his profession.
In school, when the teachers asked me what job did I want to do, 'Did I want to go to university?' and so on; I already knew, I already knew I wanted to fight and my mind was set.
Poirier will be just Duffy's third fight since joining the UFC. Despite the youth of his UFC career, the 27-year-old is ambitious.
I'd like to think I'd be looking at the lightweight title this time next year.
