In his new role as UFC President, Jimmy Bullard has announced that Conor McGregor's next UFC fight will be against Diego Costa. Is that so hard to imagine?
Well yes, but that doesn't mean that Bullard doesn't want McGregor to come and 'sort out' the Chelsea striker.
In his Daily Star column, the former England international releases his frustration about the latest Costa incident and he does so with the kind of line that many would have thought unimaginable just a few years ago.
Go and fight Conor McGregor and show us what you've really got. He needs a good kick up the arse.
Sure, McGregor may be a massive name in the US and MMA is no longer a niche sport but there's still something curious about the Dubliner now being the go-to name for footballers to prove they really are a hard man.
Either way it would be an interesting path for the UFC to go down. First Bullard comes in to join Dana White on this mad promotional tour. Then the next time Costa clashes on the pitch, he leaps over the hoarding to have a stare down with McGregor.
Joking aside, Bullard is the latest to come down hard on Costa. His bullying tactics, especially on young kids are the source of Bullard's frustrations - but Jimmy still thinks that Gabriel could have taken Costa in a fight:
I'd have backed Gabriel to have him, anyway. He was ready to go. I could see it in his eyes.
He was thinking: 'Don't boy me off pal, I'll have ya!'
The only thing missing is to hear what McGregor would have to say about his latest Brazilian foe.
