Conor McGregor said in the build-up to the UFC's debut in New York that he ran the town, and ended it by refusing to apologise to anyone. In fairness, such posturing was more than backed up in the octagon: his second round TKO of Eddie Alvarez was astonishingly comfortable, noticeable for the return of McGregor's absurd left-hand.
It was 6.22am Irish time by the time things kicked off, but all of the Irish fans who got up for the bout were more than rewarded.
Here's the proof.
Unbelievable @TheNotoriousMMA first man to unify belts. Love seeing Irish people do good in sports. #OurOwn ☘️🇮🇪
