The Irish fans are not going to Las Vegas to take part, they are going to take over.
Thousands of Conor McGregor fans are making the trip from all over Ireland (and the World) to Las Vegas in order to be there when the Dubliner finally gets his chance to unify the UFC featherweight title, and win or lose, there's going to be a party.
This fact is not lost on the owners of bars and restaurant owners on the strip, and John O'Donnell, an Irishman who owns the 'Crush' restaurant in the MGM Grand, earlier told Independent.ie that they were well prepared for the Irish fans this time around.
It's going to be nuts. As an Irishman here 20 years, I'm so proud. These Irish guys are good guys. The Americans love it too, though they have no idea what they are singing about.
Our catering team here at the MGM have placed their biggest ever order of Guinness, beer and Jameson. We ran out in July, so we don’t want that to happen this time around.
The invasion has already begun. I was in a bar in the MGM last night and there were more than 200 Irish fans in there in full spirits. They all look like McGregor with the facial hair and pony tails. It's incredible. Maybe I'm getting old, but they all look like hipsters to me.
They won't run out of Guinness this time, surely a big relief to anyone making their second trip to Vegas in the space of six months. We're looking forward to seeing how the Irish fans get on in Vegas, so it's good to know that Sin City is ready for them.
It should be an amazing spectacle, and there's not long to go now.
