We understand that the International Business Times is not the first port of call for MMA fans who need the latest news, but you would think that if they are going to cover the sport, then there should be at least one reporter who has so much as the slightest clue as to what is going on.
It appears as though that is not the case, as they seem to think that Conor McGregor will be taking on Chael Sonnen at UFC 189 this Sunday, and not Chad Mendes.
When discussing Sonnen's comments on McGregor's 27 pound weight-cut, the article refers to the retired fighter as Conor's upcoming opponent on more than one occasion.
Oh dear.
The quickest of googles to fact-check, a whatsapp message to your mate who likes MMA, or even asking someone who has been to Las Vegas in the past year would probably have avoided this mistake, and while it's not the end of the world, it is a bit embarrassing for such a big website.
Could you imagine the media shitstorm if McGregor WAS fighting Sonnen by the way?
