He wasn't quite sure whether the baby is due in March or May but Conor McGregor was certain about something else - the desire to secure his financial future.
When the fight between McGregor and Alvarez was announced in September, Dana White said a 'left-field announcement' from the Irishman would follow UFC 205. McGregor further teased this by later saying it was something which everyone should tune in for.
At the post-fight press conference, McGregor stated that he had a 'few announcements'. The first was that he and girlfriend Dee Devlin will become parents next year.
I have a few announcements. One announcement is that I'm going to be a daddy next year.
I'm crapping my jocks. I don't even know what way to take it. It's messing with my head because I don't want to be bringing a child into anything like this. I don't want any celebrity-type shite. I hate all that. I don't want my family to be like that. That's a little thing in the back of my head.
I'm going to have this baby, take a little bit of time and see what way I feel after that.
The second was that he now wants to become a part owner of the UFC. This is something he has spoken about it the past but hasn't happened. Impending fatherhood would appear to have reinvigorated his ambitions.
They've got to come talk to me. No one has talked to me since the sale [of the UFC] has happened. As a businessman, I've been approached with [only] a 'hello'.
Who owns the company now? People have shares in the company, celebrities. Conan O'Brien owns the UFC now. Where's my share? Where's my equity?
They've got to come talk to me now. I've got both belts, a chunk of money and family on the way. You want me to stick around? OK, but I want ownership now. I want equal share. I want what I deserve, what I earned.
I'm aware of my worth. Now I've got a family. Now I've got a kid on the way. I'm coming for mine now if you want me back.
It's not clear, but neither of those appears to be the announcement which we heard about in September. 'Rich 28-year-old man to become father' hardly qualifies as left-field.
That big announcement may be something which did not come to fruition and also something we may hear more about in the future.
